Jodi R. – New York, New York

July 15, 2016

New Yorker Meets Backcountry Alaska

  1. “No danger
  2. No people
  3. Scoop me off the floor from exhaustion

These were the requirements I outlined to Joe for my human powered Alaskan
adventure. And he delivered on all of them. Trekking endlessly through the
backcountry for 4 days while surrendering to Joe’s expertise and knowledge
was an experience of a lifetime. The existing trails were made by Caribou.
The mountain floors were carpeted in blueberries. The air was clean and
fresh. The scenery was straight out of a National Geographic Magazine –
breathtaking. I could not have been further from New York City where I
reside. Mind, body and spirit.

I left my husband and 2 sons behind in New York who prayed for my safe
return (as did I). I could not have been in more protected hands than Joe’s
who guided me through several different terrains in the bears’ and moose’s’
backyard. Our hikes were just the right amount of challenging given my
level of fitness and Joe’s continuous engagement around my comfort level
made me feel even more secure. I literally pushed myself to new heights,
tested my emotional limits and hiked with an indescribable sense of
accomplishment – facilitated by Joe – but all made by me!

Traverse Alaska gave me a gift I will never forget. I close my eyes at
night listening to the city’s traffic and visualize being on top of
Alaska’s treasured mountains and pack rafting through its delicious rivers.
I will forever be grateful to Joe for both his kindness and encouragement.

So if you ever said to yourself “I would really like a new adventure,” then
don’t waste another second … book an Alaskan expedition that will blow your
mind!!!”

Client POV on a 4-day Traverse Alaska / Tonglen La Client POV on a 4-day Traverse Alaska / Tonglen Lake Lodge trip package:
Watching the sunset over a glassy Tonglen Lake after an introductory walk in the entrance area of Denali National Park. Tonight the chef served delicious halibut, and we’re going to listen to some music later in the lodge. Tomorrow we’re going on a full day of adventure, hiking and river rafting with our team of private, local guides. After exploring we’ll enjoy the mountain views at Tonglen, and sip wine and tasty appetizers until dinner. The following day we’re going on a bus trip into the national park, and are planning on hiking on our own (thanks to our new skills from our guided hike) and soak up the views of the Alaska Range mountains. Our final day we plan on going for another walk with our private guide, before we get a private ride to Anchorage, for the next portion of our 2-week-long Alaska adventure.
