“We thought we got to see so much while we toured through Southeast Alaska. This excursion with Joe in the Denali area was the real showstopper of our entire vacation.
With teens in tow, we preferred something active and had originally planned a river rafting tour. Due to low river levels, Joe suggested a pack rafting tour instead. What a great decision that turned out to be! We enjoyed a terrific hike through the boreal forest while we each carried the mode of transportation on our back that would get us down the river and back to civilization.
Joe showed great expertise and enthusiasm for the local plant and animal ecosystems. Each step was filled with a new fact or concept. Once we made it to the river, we rested a minute while Joe explained the process. Despite our lack of knowledge and skill of pack rafting, the whole family was in dry suits and on the river in no time!
The rafting was exhilarating way to connect with nature. It truly gave us a sense of the natural untouched wonder of Alaska. We paddled the 12 miles down the glacially-fed river and put out with a new sense of accomplishment and amazement.”
