“For over a decade my wife and I have wanted to visit Alaska but struggled with how best to go about it. We aren’t the cruise ship type so that was pretty much ruled out immediately. Alaska, even in the summer, is daunting however. Big and wild it poses challenges that not even Wyoming and Montana can match. Joe Meyer, and Traverse Alaska, proved to be the answer to the riddle. We were fortunate to have him recommended to us through a contact and from the moment I first spoke with him I knew that I could trust him to provide the type of experience we were looking for. Joe and I discussed at length where we would go and what we would do and whether or not the time allotted was adequate. We arrived at a budget and stuck to it. No surprises on the money front which was nice. I had told him that we wanted to stay busy outdoors from morning to night in Denali and Kenai while at the same time bedding down at night in quaint, clean lodges with good food available. We were on the move early and spent our days pack rafting, white water rafting, hiking, and flying about Alaska in planes and helicopters, as well as driving about Alaska in his very comfortable and well equipped van. We saw bears, eagles, orcas, porpoises, moose, caribou, etc. Many of them up close and all of them memorable. Never did we have any sense that we were in any physical danger as Joe is experienced around wildlife and took care to prepare us for what we might expect. The lodges he selected for us were first rate and the food from good to exceptional. I couldn’t recommend Joe more highly. He’s a great guy and a great guide.”
